Then relax in one of the lounges, bar tops, communal tables, or patio with a round of inventive cocktails and upscale bites. Tickets for Puttery Charlotte can be purchased at their website or at the front desk. They do sell out, so it’s a good idea to reserve in advance if possible. You’ll have to choose between an Unlimited Play pass or a pass for One 9-Hole Course. The Unlimited pass basically just allows you to play both 9-hole courses instead of one.

Cocktails

They had a good cocktail menu with some themed drinks, and a great beer and wine selection also. One of our favorite parts about Puttery versus traditional courses was the new electronic scoring system. Although I actually prefer paper in general to using electronics, it’s always kind of a pain to carry around the little scorecard and pencil in my pocket and I end up losing it half the time. Drinks are highly encouraged and include a signature cocktail menu with quirky titles like Tasty Green and Coastal Ocean Potion.

For groups of 9+, we recommend filling out a Party & Event Inquiry. We will do our best to accommodate back-to-back tee times, but we can’t guarantee them based on availability. To keep the cocktail bar vibe, Puttery Charlotte NC is for those that are 21+ only.

It has a hip urban vibe where jamming to some tunes and noshing on chef-driven food make it appealing to non-golfers as well. The Dallas venue has a downstairs lounge and bar, upstairs bar and lounge, patio, a study and lodge, library, rooftop and illusion courses and the other locations will be similar in design. When you walk in, you’ll check in with the front desk and then you have the option to get a drink at the bar. They sometimes have servers which will serve drinks to you on the courses as well as second bars that open on each course, but it seems like that’s only when it’s pretty crowded in our experience. There are a designated number of tee times set aside for walk-in guests.

If you’re mainly there to socialize and the actual putt putt isn’t the most important to you, coming on a weekend night would probably be fine. The Puttery Charlotte NC is a newer indoor putt putt course that focuses on themed holes, great cocktails and a comfortable, fun experience for 21+ only. It was very reasonably priced, didn’t take a huge time commitment (but could if we had wanted it to), the mini golf itself was great and so was the service, drinks and food.

Puttery is an adults-only (customers must be of legal drinking age) bar and lounge featuring elaborate miniature golf courses. By applying their skills and knowledge, the students not only refined their legal writing abilities but also saw firsthand the direct influence of their work on domestic violence survivors seeking legal support. Each course will probably take you about 30 minutes as long as no one is holding you up or you don’t have a big group. We definitely recommend getting the pass for Unlimited Play unless you’re short on time. We played the Conservatory course, had some drinks and food, and then finished the night with the Library course.

Known for his sharp wit and entertaining writing style, Schmidt is a fun and easy read. — Currently, there are two Puttery venues — Dallas (The Colony, TX) and Charlotte, NC. Coming soon are locations in Miami, FL, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA. and Houston, TX.

The first locations of Puttery are scheduled to open this summer in Charlotte and Dallas, with a total of seven venues planned by the end of the year. We loved that they have food so you don’t have to leave early to get a meal in, and they have a great selection of food including classic appetizers, a few salads, burgers, entrees like pasta and even dessert. Check out the Puttery menu ahead of time if you’d like at their website.

River Cruises Guides

tauck cruise

There's a price for all those inclusions -- and Tauck's cost is definitely at the high end of river cruising. Instead, the ships are quietly upscale and elegant, with tasteful chandeliers and ironwork in the lobby, neutral colors in the cabins and ceiling molding in the lounge (along with the best bar napkins we've ever seen at sea). Starting in 2017, the line has been revamping its five older Jewel-class ships, which are smaller than the Inspiration vessels, reducing the capacity from 118 to 98. The climate along the Danube River is temperate and unpredictable. From June through August, the average high temperatures decrease as you travel west along the river and range from 69 to 79°F (21 to 26°C) and the average low temperatures range from 51 to 59°F (11 to 15°C).

Three Rivers: Danube, Main & Rhine

On Tauck's four Inspiration ships, you'll find 67 cabins, and 49 on its Jewel-class ships. Because the Inspiration ships are the same size as Viking ships with fewer passengers and cabins, the staterooms are larger. Window cabins are 150 square feet to Viking's 135, and most of Tauck's cabins have a French balcony and are 225 square feet (while the standard on Viking is 205 square feet). The line claims the ship offers more suites than any other European river vessel and these cabins -- while not true two-room suites -- are 300 square feet.

Tauck River Cruises: Why You'll Love Being Aboard Tauck Cruises

On both lines, the main restaurant setup is very similar, with buffets at breakfast and lunch plus live cooking stations and made-to-order menu items. Dinner is served to the table and, on both lines, staff are very attentive. Ships offer a wide choice of dishes to suit all tastes, including healthy choices and simpler "always available" dishes, although Tauck has more vegan and vegetarian options.

Tauck has outdoor seats at Arthur's but there's no glass buffer, so it's a windier experience. Tauck differs in that the main restaurant is open seating, meaning you can go down and have dinner whenever you like. On Viking, everyone eats at the same time, which can create a "herding" effect that some people dislike. Download, print or share deck plans and additional information for your vessel, such as specifications and cabin descriptions. Hidden gems and must-see sights from coast to coast, including two nights at 16th-century Dromoland Castle.

Guide to River Cruises

Not so with Galápagos sea lions, however; chances are good that you'll find yourself splashing around in the water with some of these sociable, whiskered locals. Many of the sites visited were built in antiquity and have many steps and uneven surfaces. It is important that you wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in. The amount of walking that you choose to do, however, is at your discretion. Additionally, you should be steady on your feet to circumnavigate the decks of the ship while cruising on the Mediterranean Sea.

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey to enter Canada and for embarkation. Passport Cards are not acceptable for air travel between Canada and the USA. Often robust – may include long days, active sightseeing, early starts, evening activities, significant travel times. We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you.

We know the destinations dotting the river banks and those off the beaten path that deliver authentic experiences. And, of course, we know the rivers… not just the basic facts, but how they impacted the history and culture of the destinations they flow through. We bring the locals aboard to share their stories, traditions and talents, then we invite you ashore to have a glass of wine or two with the vintners who made them... Attend command performances and concerts in opera houses and exclusive venues for Tauck guests only... And so many more opportunities to personally connect with the culture and people you meet in ways you couldn't do on your own.

Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited. Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm). A person who cancels or leaves a tour while a roommate remains constitutes a cancellation of one type of accommodation and rebooking of another type of accommodation. The price charged to the remaining person is the new, higher price for the new accommodation. International maritime security guidelines require that your passport information be provided to us prior to your embarkation. Once you board the riverboat, your passport will be held by the purser temporarily to make copies.

An Exclusive insideTauck Event

Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The adventurous journey includes several early morning starts, full-day excursions and many different modes of transportation, including airplane, railroad, cruise ship, boat tender, ferry, catamaran, jet boat, river raft and tram car. No medications are sold on board the cruise ship other than those prescribed and stocked by the ship's physician. Here, you'll discover the "who, what, where, when and whys" of river cruising to help you identify what is really important when choosing a river cruise. If you are familiar with Tauck, you know that we take pride in anticipating our guests' needs on tour, catering to your comfort with over 95 years of personalized service and travel expertise. We're delighted to share our insights about river cruising with you.

This plan provides cancellation coverage for your trip and other insurance coverages that apply only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies.

Over nearly a century, as a family-owned travel company, our values and vision have remained true to our founding tenets – and we're extremely grateful for the recognition our guests and the industry have awarded us. This itinerary is one of the more rigorous domestic itineraries we offer. To enjoy this cruise, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces.

Having fewer people on the same size ship does make a difference in terms of seating, service and overall vibe. Choose Viking if you are more a do-it-yourself person on shore and with tips, and don't mind paying for your Happy Hour and after-hours drinks. The pours at lunch and dinner are generous, so if you're not a liquor drinker -- or don't like alcohol at all -- you might not need all the extras that Tauck provides. Tauck is less dressy than ocean cruises, but there are a handful of events, such as the Welcome Dinner, a Gala Dinner and special events offshore, where a jacket for men and a nice dress for women is appropriate. Marzipan is a sweet candy confection – traditionally made from sugar or honey and ground almonds, and often formed into pastries or shapes – that can be found around the world. Now should that last sentence leave you with the impression that I’m healthy and disciplined on a cruise, well, keep reading before you accuse me of being completely nuts (see what I did there). Holland America is known for having beautiful fresh flowers onboard and I enjoyed them on the Westerdam. Even though I knew they were real, I still had to smell and touch them to confirm (with all the cuts happening across all cruise lines, I’m bracing myself for the day they smell like plastic and dust). Make the most of your Holland America Line cruise with exclusive special events and signature experiences in select cities. Casual attire is appropriate during the day and most evenings in all dining venues.

Meals at Canaletto are half price for kids 12 years old or under, or free when they order from the kids’ menu. If my list of complaints strikes you as increasingly petty, you’re right. But, unlike on every other HAL cruise we’ve been on, the Westerdam didn’t offer waffle cones for the buffet ice cream.

World Stage, the largest theater on board is home to a variety of performances day and night. Our exclusive EXC® Talk lecture series features captivating regional stories told by local experts and narrated by your Cruise & Travel Director. In the evenings, Step One Dance Company, vocal sensation CantarĂ©, BBC Earth in Concert and more take the stage. Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam bring the World Stage experience to the next level by surrounding you in spectacular sight and sound with a two-story, panoramic LED screen.

Generously proportioned and filled with light, these elegant suites include a living room, dining room, pantry with microwave and refrigerator, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a private verandah with whirlpool. The bedroom features a king-size bed—our Signature Mariner's Dream™ bed with plush Euro-Top mattresses, plus a separate dressing room and the bath includes an oversize whirlpool bath and shower as well as an additional shower stall.

In the period September 2018 through April 2019, the ship is deployed in Asia for a total of 10 itineraries ranging days and visiting China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam. Asian season starts with 14-day Pacific crossing from Vancouver to Yokohama Japan. There is a selection of connecting and accessible cabins in most cabin categories. All rooms also come with twice daily housekeeping, including a turn-down service that comes with two chocolates and a towel animal.

While you're not going to find any raucous early-morning parties on Westerdam, the entertainment onboard keeps the boat rocking until a bit past midnight. This is particularly true on the ship's European itineraries, which bring in a more global -- and younger -- group of passengers. A fascinating destination in her own right, Westerdam has won multiple Best Cruise Ship awards and features superb bar, entertainment and dining venues. Westerdam's restaurants provide an option of traditional seating scenarios as well as open, more versatile ones. Passengers might still learn how to mix a martini cocktail or create a flower arrangement, but they might also take computer classes which range from an introduction to e-mail to editing digital photography.

The Crow’s Nest, located on deck 10 at the very front of the ship offered the perfect spot to sip a cocktail while reading a novel. In action it looked more like half a cocktail and a two hour nap. Every 20 minutes someone would poke me to complain of my snoring and I’d awaken to gaze out at the gorgeous, sweeping (and hypnotic) ocean views only to return to merry (and loud, as I was repeatedly told) slumber. Stick with espresso drinks (available at the bar) and a genre like romance or mystery/thriller. This is NOT the time to tackle Kant’s thesis of transcendental idealism. Holland America’s ms Westerdam is a premium family-friendly ship.

Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals. Learn how Holland America's friendly staff take care of your every need with an extensive list of onboard services. Known as The Emerald City, Seattle is a beautiful, luscious city with incredible views of the Cascade Mountains and Elliott Bay. The city is full of activities for both water lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. One of the world’s most exciting modern cities, Hong Kong offers a true East meets West experience where you can shop for traditional Chinese cure-alls and attend high tea all in the same afternoon.

In the Caribbean, the demographic shifts back to Holland America's core North American market and the age range goes back up to 55-plus, with nightly fun coming to a close closer to midnight (or earlier). This is not because the onboard offerings change, but because the line historically draws an older clientele in North America and its newer offerings have not yet been adequately communicated to the cruising population at large. But with all that's new, Westerdam has not lost Holland American staples like an emphasis on service (though on our cruise, service had the occasional bump, particularly in the restaurants) and delicious food in all venues. The ship's interior design theme is Dutch exploration - numerous sculptures, statues and paintings of famous Dutch ships.
